Hey Bo,

That's a really neat idea! Love the video. And you're right about Bluetooth pairing: it's a massive pain. So much so that cables are nearly worth it. :-)

I wonder if your idea could be used to simplify the pairing of two phones, one of which displays the QR code (or other glyph), and the other which takes a picture of the QR code being displayed by the other phone? Maybe it's been done already.

[By the way, I was an intern at Sun working with Greg and Laurent on the Barcelona project when you were there (2000). It's been a while. How are you!? Regards,]

UPDATE: I noticed that Starbucks (and some other gift-card providers) are starting to use QR codes on smartphones for payment. <a href="http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-8134-SF-Gadgets-Examiner~y2009m9d24-Pay-for-Starbucks-using-your-iPhone" rel="nofollow">"Pay for Starbucks using your iPhone" (Examiner)</a>. This along with the use of QR codes for airplane boarding passes may help introduce North American users to what to expect to be able to do when they see one of these odd looking codes.
